Join Humboldt Trails Council and the Northcoast Regional Land Trust on the third Sunday of each month at Freshwater Farms Reserve from 9 am to noon for a morning of trail stewardship!
Each month, we’ll take on an exciting project to improve and maintain the ¾ mile Nature Trail. Along Freshwater Slough, this trail provides excellent views of pasture and a restored tidal wetland. Birding opportunities abound!
Here are some of the projects we’ve completed so far in 2023:
● Remove legacy farm and nursery equipment
● Plant native shrubs, trees, and ferns
● Re-seed a rehabilitation site with native grasses
● Remove invasive plants
● Re-route and maintain the trail to improve wetland connectivity and reduce erosion
We’ve got plenty of work to do each month, and your help really makes a difference in the quality of this unique place and valuable community resource!
