Spring Greetings, Trail Stewards
It’s almost time for our monthly volunteer workday in the McKay Community Forest! We hope you can join us this weekend:
Saturday, April 6th
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Meet at Redwood Fields on Fern St. (off Walnut Drive) in Cutten, at the storage container adjacent to the parking lot at 9:00 AM to collect tools & supplies and discuss workday guidelines before heading out on the trails.
We plan to work rain or shine – We’re looking at a high of 55 degrees with a moderate chance of rain, so plan to bring your rain gear!
General Volunteering Guidelines:
Volunteers should wear appropriate work clothing, boots and bring a small day pack for carrying food and water as the varying project locations will require hiking to access (.5 mi to 2 mi generally).
Volunteers are encouraged to arrive 5-10 mins early so that enough tools and food can be made available for all.
All new volunteers will be required to sign a one-time liability release form that will cover all subsequent workdays.
All tools, gloves, trail and safe working techniques training will be provided by Humboldt County and VTS.
