VTS Workday: McKay Community Forest

Happy New Year, & Happy Trails! 
We’re all set to kick off the new year with fellow friends and trail stewards at the McKay Community Forest. A little morning movement in the great outdoors is the perfect way to connect with community, and enjoy that sense of refreshment and clarity that we all hope to bring into the New Year! We hope you can join us:
Saturday, January 6th
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
On this workday we’ll be rocking a new stretch of trail near Redwood Acres. There are plenty of tools and supplies available, and a hearty lunch will be provided by noon. Come one, come all!
We’ll be working rain or shine – The forecast reads a high of 49 degrees with showers, so plan to bring your rain gear!
General Guidelines:
–Volunteers should wear appropriate work clothing, boots and bring a small day pack for carrying food and water as the varying project locations will require hiking to access (.5 mi to 2 mi generally).
–Volunteers are encouraged to arrive 5-10 mins early so that enough tools and food can be made available for all.
–All new volunteers will be required to sign a one-time liability release form that will cover all subsequent workdays.
–All tools, gloves, trail and safe working techniques training will be provided by Humboldt County and VTS.
