Dear Wonderful Volunteers,
We will be working in the Arcata Community Forest on Saturday, October 26th for our monthly workday. We will meet at 9 am and quit a little earlier (11:30) this work day than usual. We will meet at the Diamond Drive trailhead and focus on preparation for winter on a number of Community Forest trails. As always, there will be something for everyone.
For those of you not familiar with the Diamond Drive trailhead, perhaps this map will help. Go north on L.K. Wood Blvd. to Diamond Drive. The trailhead is .8 mile UP on Diamond Drive. If you need more detailed instructions let me know.
RSVP to me (hughes@humboldt.edu) if you intend to come on the 26th.
As you know we work rain or shine. I’ll have the usual supply of work gloves and snacks. But, bring your own water.
I look forward to seeing you on the 26th.
Rees
Bay Trail Update:
Although the contractor has made significant progress this summer and fall, I have learned that (even with perfect weather for another month) the Bay Trail South will not be complete until later in Spring, 2025. They do hope to have most of the project complete this fall including finishing long stretches of the actual trail but the entire project will not be able to finish until after the upcoming rainy season.
Arcata Fire District Survey
One of our regular volunteers, Eric Loudenslager, serves on the Board of the Arcata Fire District (which encompasses more than just Arcata). They are conducting a community survey to assess the level of service the community wants, and perceptions of the current service delivery. Eric and the District would love to have more community members complete the survey by Friday, October 18th. Use the following link to take the survey:
