Look for the Volunteer Trail Stewards Sign.
For our October 3rd Wharf Trail VTS Workday we will be spreading wood chips around the trail-side plantings using the “bucket brigade” method.
Sunday, October 3rd we will be filling 5-gallon buckets with wood chips in the Wharfinger Building Parking lot and spreading the chips as a mulch among the plantings along the trail. There is also a need for weeding in some of the planted areas. Another need is the leveling of a mound of soil near the ditch in the the fenced area across Waterfront Drive from the Wharfinger. Additionally, there is always litter to pick-up, if you are so inclined.
The Weather forecast for Sunday is mostly sunny, with a high near 63.
From 11:00-11:30, after the Wharf Trail Workday, the Humboldt Trails Council will hold a Volunteer Recognition Event. There will be special food and beverages; including breakfast burritos, scones/pastries, mandarin oranges and other fruit that is locally grown, there will be coffee and water will be available. A broad selection of Volunteer Recognition items will be available including vests, hats, lapel pins, beer mugs, decals, T-shirts. There will a suggestion box for people to comment on the Volunteer Trail Stewards Program.
