VTS Workday: Wigi Wetlands

Where: Wigi Wetlands (behind Bayshore Mall, parking behind Walmart)

Hey, everyone! We hope you can make it out to the volunteer workday this weekend, as there is plenty of work to do in the wetlands. We plan to bring out a backhoe the day prior thanks to the Hum Bay Wildlife Refuge, so there may be some extra clearing out to do aside from our usual weeding & trash removal.

Gloves, tools, and refreshments will be provided — but you’re always welcome to bring your own, if there’s something you’re more comfortable using. You can always bring a friend or two along with you, too! 

Here’s the backhoe that we used last winter to clear out Scotch broom & Pampas grass.. More work is needed to keep them “at bay”!
