VTS Workday w/ RIPE: Arcata Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary

Calling All Volunteers!
Redwood Invasive Plant Eradicators (RIPE) is partnering with Volunteer Trail Stewards (VTS) to remove fruiting invasive ivy at the Arcata Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary.
When: Sunday July 14, 2024, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Where: Road going out to the Klopp Lake parking lot, immediately before the parking lot. You get there by taking I street out to the Marsh. The place we’ll be meeting is referred to as “South I Street” on the attached map, and is in the southwest area of the attached map. We will be immediately west of Hauser Marsh.
The fruiting ivy is immediately next to the road.
Migrating birds are eating the ivy berries and widely distributing the seeds. This is one of the rare instances where fruiting ivy is thriving on the ground, and has been there for a long time. There are at least six large patches in an approximately 214 foot section of road. The ivy starts approximately 220 feet from the parking lot.
