VTS Workday: Arcata Community Forest

Dear Much Appreciated Volunteers,

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE WILL BE NO REMINDER NEXT WEEK AS I WILL BE BACKPACKING UNTIL FRIDAY.

Our next work day is coming up on Saturday, August 24th from 9 am – 12 (noon). We are heading to the Sunny Brae Forest to clean up the Beith Creek Loop and the Panorama Court connector trail, tackle the invasive invasion (ivy, Scotch broom, crocosmia, blackberry, etc.), do some work around the trailhead, and pull out trash from an abandoned camp.  We will send a team of volunteers with weed eaters on the long journey around the Beith Creek Loop.  We will have a team clean up the abandoned camp and make the long haul to get the trash out to the Margaret trailhead.  There is plenty of invasive work too.

We will meet at the base of the concrete steps on Margaret, the primary trailhead for the Sunny Brae Forest.  For those who are unfamiliar, you take Buttermilk east from Old Arcata Road for 0.9 mile and at the small roundabout turn left on Margaret for one block. (GPS coordinates, if that makes it easier – 40.858186, -124.058074)

I encourage you to bring your own gloves (I’ll have some extra gloves) and water.   Let me know if you have any questions.
