Dear incredible fellow volunteers,
For our upcoming work day on Saturday (April 24) we are going to try something a little different. We are going to have two teams of 10 who will be working completely independently of each other (to allow us to deal with two areas of need).
Group 1. Group 1 will meet at the Fickle Hill Trailhead to the Community Forest (see map below) at 9 am and make the long walk to Trail #15. This team will focus on brushing back this trail (it tends to get overgrown especially under the powerlines) and doing a little basic maintenance on the trail. This crew will also work on Trail #6. Jack will work with this team and drive the tools to the work site and help provide direction. There may be some weed eating involved for a couple of volunteers.
Group 2. Group 2 will meet at 9 am at the Margaret Street trailhead to the Sunny Brae Forest (.9 mile east on Buttermilk, at the small roundabout at the top of Buttermilk turn left for one block) We will focus on the Beith Creek Loop. I will take responsibility for this crew. Beith Creek does have two areas that tend to get overgrown that will require some weed eating and trimming. There are also two large patches of pampas grass on the Beith Creek Loop. We will walk the loop (it is a 2-mile walk) and work our way around the entire loop.
Please RSVP to me for one team or the other. I will confirm your spot. Both will start at 9 am and both will involve about the same amount of walking.
As always, we will conclude about noon. Wear work clothes and shoes, bring work gloves if you have them (although I have some reasonably new gloves in my lending supply), a water bottle, and a FACE MASK. We work rain or shine! New volunteers welcome and volunteers we haven’t seen in a while.
We are continuing to work using the COVID-19 protocol. We will provide hand sanitizer, packaged snacks, and tools. We will maintain social distance and wear face masks throughout the morning and please don’t come if you feel sick.
