Arcata Community Forest Work Day — August 28, 9 – 12 (noon)

August 28, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Dear Awe-Inspiring Volunteers,
We’ll be up in the Community Forest for our Saturday, August 28 workday working on Trail #17.  Yahoo!  As usual, we’ll start at 9 am and end around noon. Trail #17 is so far up in the Forest that it doesn’t get much attention and while the roads are dry this is a good time to access it.  We’ll be doing some string trimming and raking the trail corridor, dealing with three sections where the trail tread needs improvement, removing some hazardous rebar, dealing with some isolated ivy patches, replacing a failed step . . . you get the idea.  Plenty for everyone.
We will meet at the Fickle Hill parking area (see map below).

Given the disconcerting spike in COVID-19 numbers in the County, we want to be extra careful.
I am going to ask people to RSVP again (hughes@humboldt.edu) to help me plan although I won’t be dividing us into two groups.  It is essential that you wear a mask and social distance. Please do not come  if you are not vaccinated (let me know if there is a reason I should make an exception for you).   I will provide packaged snacks, have hand sanitizer, and have my usual supply of gloves.I would encourage you to bring water. Of course, don’t attend if you are not feeling well.
I hope to see many of you on the 28th!  Thanks!  Questions welcome . . .
