Arcata Community Forest VTS Workday
July 23 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Dear Wonderful Volunteers,
Thanks to the stalwart crew who braved voracious mosquitos and record high temps to move rock and trim back vegetation on the north end of the Ridge Trail last month. For the upcoming, Saturday, July 23rd, work day, we’ll meet in the parking lot for Redwood Park (turn left on Bayview Street near the east end of 11th Street and follow Bayview into the park). We will start at 9 am and end at 12 (noon).
The focus of our efforts will be on cleaning up the connector trail from the parking lot to 11th Street (some weed whacking, lots of ivy removal, trash pick-up, covering social trails) and on Trail #18 (invasive removal and some covering social trails).
I hope that you are taking advantage of our recent glorious weather that remains smoke-free. Rachael Garcia will be covering for me (I will be in Kansas helping with my mother). It would be nice to have a sense of who is coming to help so please let me know (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you are planning to attend.
Last month . . . this month will be easier! (Pete Carlson: photo credit)
Again, we will begin at 9 am and conclude about noon. Wear work clothes and shoes, bring work gloves if you have them (although we have some reasonably new gloves in the lending supply), and a water bottle. We work rain or shine! New volunteers welcome and volunteers we haven’t seen in a while. Please don’t come if you feel sick.
