Arcata Community Forest VTS Workday

Dear Wonderful Trail Stewards,

Our next workday is coming up on Saturday, May 28, from 9 am – 12 (noon). Things are growing fast with these May showers and it is time to return to the Bay Trail North. We will gather at the small parking lot just north of the City Corporation Yard (see my map). We will work rain or shine!  We’ll be picking up trash, cutting grass, knocking back some invasives, using our riding mower (what a difference it has made), and trimming blackberries that bedevil the mower operator south of the 3rd bridge.

I encourage you to park in the AMIC (Arcata Marsh Interpretive Center) parking lot on South ‘G’ Street and walk over to the small parking lot in front of the entrance to the City of Arcata Corporation Yard.  See my map below (or let me know if you need more directions).

COVID case counts remain elevated so let’s continue to be smart. We will still practice social distancing and I ask that you be vaccinated to attend. I will provide packaged snacks, have hand sanitizer, and have my usual supply of gloves. I would encourage you to bring water and your own gloves. Of course, don’t attend if you are not feeling well.

I’m not restricting numbers but it is nice to know how many volunteers are coming so that I can better prepare tasks and tools . . . especially since it is Memorial Day Weekend. It would be great if you RSVP to me at hughes@humboldt.edu
